How to Join

Joining

To borrow items you will need a Kāpiti Coast District Libraries card. With this card you can borrow items from Paraparaumu, Waikanae and Ōtaki Public Libraries. Anyone can join Kāpiti Coast District Libraries free of charge.

What you need to join

You can join at Paraparaumu, Waikanae and Ōtaki Public Libraries. Bring two forms of identification with you:

One with your signature
For example your Drivers Licence, Community Services Card or Bankcard
One with your current address
For example a bank statement, telephone, rates or power account

Download and complete an application form. Bring the above into your nearest Kapiti Coast District Library.

When you have joined

Always bring your card
Please do not let anyone else use your library card
Let us know immediately if you change your address, or your card is lost or stolen

Checking what you have borrowed

You can check what you have borrowed:

by asking at any of the libraries
by phone (have your borrower card number ready)
from My Library on this website (you will need a password on your card - get one now or from the Information Desk at any library.)
from the slip given to you when your books are issued

Renewing books

You can renew items once unless it is a rental item or another person has requested the item.

Books/CDs and jigsaws can be renewed for 3 weeks
Videos, DVDs can be renewed for 1 week
Magazines can be renewed for 1 week
Bestsellers can be renewed for 2 weeks

You can renew:

at any of the libraries
by phone (have your borrower card number ready)
from My Library on this website (you will need a password on your card - get one now or from the Information Desk at any library.)

Returning Books

You can return your books to Paraparaumu, Ōtaki and Waikanae Libraries. It does not matter which of these libraries the books were issued from.

All libraries have an after hours slot for you to return books if the library is closed.
