Concrete mixer used by Ministry of Public Works on construction of new seawall and coast road near Paekākāriki, ca 1938.  The mixer ran non-stop from 7am to 4pm in two shifts - 7am to 11am and 11am to 4pm daily.  Mr Beattie's work gang.  Mr Beattie (from Paraparaumu).

It is 10 years since the Railway’s main line depot at Paekākāriki closed. On the anniversary of the closing of the depot, Railways staff and their wives gathered at a function in the Paekākāriki Hotel.

A A Brown on the left of bottom row set up Brown's Flaxmill in Waikanae and lived with his family at Paetawa homestead in Waikanae. His daughter Helen Jane Brown married G A Monk who is seated in the centre of the bottom row. ca 1918

Miss S C Jones in about 1928.  Miss Jones was the first District Nurse in Paekākāriki and served a seven year term working long, long hours, on call 24 hours a day.  For the first two years of her term she had to walk everywhere to attend patients.  Then the local community bought her a bicycle.  Half Miss Jones' wages were paid the Hospital Board and half by the local community.

Three seamstress sisters called Ismay, Joyce and ? Staff owned a workshop and dressmaking business in Wellington. The sisters used to holiday at Paraparaumu regularly. Paraparaumu Spring 1946
