Service with a smile is guaranteed at Waikanae Library. Located in Mahara Place opposite Mahara Gallery and the Woolworths car park Waikanae library is situated right in the heart of its community.
In addition to a great selection of fiction and non fiction books Waikanae library also has a fantastic range of magazines, bestsellers and audio visual material. Internet, fax and photocopying services are also available. The Children’s and Teen collections are located upstairs and it is here that the Children’s and Teen Specialist conducts regular story times, class visits and holiday programmes. The Kapiti Coast District Council Service Centre and the Waikanae Information Centre are also located in the library, as is the fabulous new art space He Kakano. Nau mai, haere mai.
The Waikanae Service Centre is located within the library and provides a satellite service to the main Kāpiti Coast District Council office which is located at 175 Rimu Road, Paraparaumu.
The Service Centre is staffed by Customer Service Officers, 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. The services provided include payments, rating information, service requests, dog registration, and a drop-off and collection point for council, as well as general enquiries relating to council business and services.

You can also pay your rates at your local Post Shop — they usually open Saturday mornings. Remember to take your account with you.
He Kākano is the art space on the “Coast with Most” and a great little space for artists to show-off their creations. Smaller than its sister gallery, the Roderick and Gillian Deane Art Space in Paraparaumu Library, He Kakano is small but perfectly formed!
Centrally located within Waikanae Library, the art space is a great addition to the Library environment. Visible from the moment you enter the Library, He Kakano is sure to please with its changing exhibitions showcasing our local artists.
